Kindness, compassion and dignity

Score: 3

The practice always treated people with kindness, empathy and compassion and respected their privacy and dignity. Staff treated colleagues from other organisations with kindness and respect.

The practice generally performed in line with the local and national average in the results of the 2025 National GP Patient Survey, which received 129 responses out of the 398 surveys sent out. For example, 81% of patients found the reception and administrative team helpful, compared with a local average of 80% and national average of 83%. 88% of patients said the healthcare professional they saw or spoke to was good at listening to them during their last appointment, compared with a local average of 85% and national average of 87%. 81% of patients said the healthcare professional they saw or spoke to was good at treating them with care and concern during their last appointment, compared with a local average of 84% and national average of 86%.

The service had arrangements to promote people’s privacy. Chaperones were available for patients with posters displayed throughout the practice. Staff had appropriate chaperone training. Staff we spoke with understood Gillick competency and there was a process to ensure young adults had control over their own privacy and the amount of parental involvement in managing their care and support. The practice did not have an active Patient Participation Group (PPG) at the time of our assessment, however, leaders had taken steps to re-establish the PPG and were actively recruiting and contacting new members, with a meeting scheduled following our assessment for prospective members. Patients we spoke with during the assessment described staff as excellent, caring and professional. They told us staff took time to explain information in detail, ensuring they understood their care, treatment and decisions. Feedback provided to the CQC from patients were positive and described staff as helpful and supportive.
