Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 6 to 8 October 2025.

Silvermere Care Home provides care and support for older people, some of whom were living with dementia. Some people also have physical disabilities. We undertook this assessment as concerns had been received about safe care being delivered to people.

During this assessment we covered all of the quality statements in all of the key questions. Since our last assessment there have been changes in the management structure. The service was being supported by a ‘turnaround’ management team whilst they recruited for a new registered manager. One of the senior leaders was stepping into the management role for the interim. We will refer to them as the ‘manager’ in this report.

Risks to people were managed effectively to reduce the likelihood of harm, and people were safeguarded from the risk of abuse. Lessons were shared when things went wrong. There were enough staff to support people, and staff were supported to be effective in their role. Staff were trained and followed infection control procedures, and the health and safety of the environment was robust. Complaints were appropriately addressed in line with the provider’s procedure. There was visible leadership, and the service had effective systems in place to monitor the quality and safety of the service.

People's experience of this service

People were supported with their nutritional and hydration needs. People had access to the health care services they needed. People were supported to have choice and control of their lives and were encouraged to remain independent. People fed back they were involved in their care and that communication from leaders and staff was good.

Staff were kind and caring. People were treated with dignity and respect and their independence promoted. People’s needs were assessed and planned for, and care plans detailed people’s individual needs. People’s end-of-life wishes were documented in their care plans. Relatives described how staff treated their loved ones kindly and made sure that personal care was done sensitively, preserving their privacy and dignity.
