Our view of the service
We carried out an assessment between 10 June 2025 and 13 August 2025. Oak Tree Surgery is a GP practice which delivers services to approximately 17,233 people under a contract held with NHS England. Oak Tree Surgery has an additional branch surgery in Pensilva, following a merger in 2018. The National General Practice Profiles states that 97.89% of the practice population are White and 2.1% are non-white ethnic groups of people. Information published by the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities shows that deprivation within the practice population group is in the 5th decile (5 of 10). The lower the decile, the more deprived the practice population is relative to others. This assessment considered the demographics of the people using the service, the context the service was working within and how this impacted service delivery. Where relevant, further commentary is provided in the quality statements section of this report.
People's experience of this service
People were positive about the quality of their care and treatment. Recent survey results, including from the National GP Patient Survey and the NHS Friends and Family Test, showed people were satisfied with services. We reviewed the results from the National GP Patient Survey in July 2025 and found people had positive feedback about their experience at their last appointment. For example, 76% of people reported a good overall experience of the practice. We reviewed recent NHS Friends and Family Test (FFT) from the month of June 2025. We found that the practice received responses from 608 patients. Of these, 562 (92.30%) patients were extremely likely or likely to recommend the practice to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment and 46 (7.57%) people responded with neither, unlikely, extremely unlikely or didn’t know. There was an active patient participation group (PPG) who represented the views of people using the service. A representative from the PPG described how the service had made changes as a result of their feedback.
