Our view of the service
Date of Assessment:18 November 2025 to 26 November 2025. The Merton Medical Practice is a GP practice and delivers service to 7712 under a contract held with NHS England. The National General Practice Profiles states that that the ethnic make-up of the patient population is 62.94% White, 16.27% Asian, 10.08% Black 6.15% Mixed and 4.56% Other. Information published by Office for Health Improvement and Disparities shows that deprivation within the practice population group is in the 7th decile (7 of 10). The lower the decile, the more deprived the practice population is relative to others. This assessment considered the demographics of the patients using the service, the context the service was working within and how this impacted service delivery. The Merton Medical Practice is located at 12-17 Abbey Parade Merton High Street, South Wimbledon London SW19 1DG.
The practice operates from purpose-built premises. Consulting rooms are on the ground floor. All patient facilities are wheelchair accessible; there is an automatic door. The practice has access to 8 consultation rooms.
The practice clinical team consists of 6 GPs, 2 practice nurses, 1 healthcare assistant, and 2 clinical pharmacists. The GPs are supported by a practice manager and 7 reception/administration staff.
The practice is a training practice; at the time of the inspection, they had 2 GP registrars.

We carried out this assessment due to the length of time since the last inspection.
People's experience of this service
Patients were positive about the quality of their care and treatment. Recent survey results, including from the National GP Patient Survey and the NHS Friends and Family Test, showed patients were satisfied with services. There was an active Patient Participation Group (PPG) who represented the views of patients using the service. Representatives from the PPG described how managers made positive changes because of feedback, for example improving the appointment booking system. Results from the Friends and Family test patients feedback (a feedback tool for people using NHS services, asking them to rate their overall experience) “The GPs and nurses are very caring and give you their time”. “Very quick response”. “Same day appointments”. Doctor took the time to go through all options”. “The practice is swift in responding to patients’ medical needs and following up treatment.” ‘All staff are very friendly and helpful”.
