Our view of the service
Date of Assessment: 10 September 2025 – 24 September 2025. Old Bridge Surgery is a GP practice that delivers services to 9858 people under a contract held with NHS England. Old Bridge Surgery comprises of a main building in Looe and a branch in Pelynt, which has a dispensary and a branch in Polperro. The National General Practice Profiles states that the ethnicity of the practice population is 97.78% white and the remaining 3% Mixed, Black, Asian and other. Information published by Office for Health Improvement and Disparities shows that deprivation within the practice population group is in the 4th decile (4 of 10). The lower the decile, the more deprived the practice population is relative to others. This assessment considered the demographics of the people using the service, the context the service was working within and how this impacted service delivery. People's experience of this service
People were positive about the quality of their care and treatment. Recent survey results, including from the General Practice Patient Survey (GPPS) and the NHS Friends and Family Test (FFT), showed people were mostly satisfied with services.
We reviewed the results from the GPPS in July 2025 and found people had positive feedback about their experience at their last appointment. For example, 83.4% of people reported a good overall experience of the practice.
We reviewed recent FFT from the month of July 2025. We found that the practice received responses from 486 people registered with the practice (patients). Of these, 463 (95.2%) of people were extremely likely or likely to recommend the practice to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment and 23 (4.7%) people responded with neither, unlikely, extremely unlikely or didn’t know.
There was an active patient participation group (PPG) who represented the views of people using the service.
