We suspended Sidley Medical Practice’s registration on 14 April 2025 and have authorised a further extension to their suspension until 14 October 2026. We found serious concerns that included but was not limited to; Unsafe care and treatment in relation to people could not access services, clinical assessment, medicines management, safeguarding, staffing, premises and equipment, good governance and duty of candour at Sidley Medical Practice and their branch surgery at Albert Road.

Our view of the service
Sidley Medical Practice is a GP practice and delivers services to approximately 14,000 patients under a contract held with NHS England. The National General Practice Profiles states that the patient demographic is predominantly white ethnicity accounting for 94.1%. Information published by Office for Health Improvement and Disparities shows that deprivation within the practice population group is in the 4th decile of 10. The lower the decile, the more deprived the practice population is relative to others. This inspection considered the demographics of the people using the service, the context the service was working in and how this impacted service delivery. Where relevant, further commentary is provided in the quality statements section of this report.
We inspected the service in response to people raising concerns regarding the care and treatment they were receiving. During the inspection we followed up on warning notices issues for safe, care and treatment to people, the effectiveness of governance systems and staffing. The notices were issued following risks identified in Sidley Medical Practice’s earlier inspection conducted on 14 May 2024.
During this inspection (April 2025) we found significant concerns, people did not receive safe, effective, caring, responsive or well led care. The provider had not met the three warning notices and people were found to be at risk of harm. The service remains in breach of regulations and the providers registration was suspended.
People's experience of this service
People told us they experienced difficulties getting an appointment. When we arrived for the site visit, we saw people queuing outside the premises from 07:30. They told us they had no confidence in getting an appointment unless they attended in person on the day. People told us they experienced delays in getting prescriptions and did not receive continuity in their care from clinicians.
