Caring
We looked for evidence the service involved people and treated them with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect. At our last assessment, we rated this key question as good. At this assessment, the rating remains the same.
This service scored 75 (out of 100) for this area. Find out what we look at when we assess this area and How we calculate these scores.
Kindness, compassion and dignity
The service always treated people with kindness, empathy and compassion and respected their privacy and dignity. Staff treated colleagues from other organisations with kindness and respect.
The service had arrangements to promote people’s privacy. The service performed better than the national average in the National GP Patient Survey caring section (January to March 2025). This showed people felt listened to and felt they were treated with kindness. For example:
National GP Patient Survey data (January to March 2025) reflected people felt listened to. Of those who responded, 91% of patients stated that the last time they had a general practice appointment, the healthcare professional was good or very good at listening to them (the national average was 87%).
Patients who stated that the last time they had a general practice appointment, the healthcare professional was good or very good at treating them with care and concern, was 91% (the national average was 85.6%).
Patients who stated that during their last GP appointment they had confidence and trust in the healthcare professional they saw or spoke to, was 98% (the national average was 92.5%).
This was mirrored in feedback from responses we saw in the monthly Friends and Family test we reviewed during our assessment where staff were described as “brilliant”, “amazing” and “very caring and professional”.
The service had arrangements to promote people’s privacy. Chaperones were available when required, with posters displayed throughout the practice and staff appropriately trained.
