Our view of the service

Merridale Medical Centre is a GP practice located in Leicester. The practice delivers services to around 14,400 patients under a contract held with NHS England. The provider is registered with CQC to deliver the following Regulated Activities: Diagnostic and screening procedures; Family planning; Treatment of disease, disorder or injury; and Surgical procedures.

The National General Practice Profiles states that the ethnic make-up of the practice area is 67.16% White, 16.25% Asian, 8.30% Black, 4.37% Mixed Ethnicities, and 3.93% Other Ethnicities. Information published by Office for Health Improvement and Disparities shows that deprivation within the practice population group is in the 2nd decile (2 out of 10). The lower the decile, the more deprived the practice population is relative to others. This assessment considered the demographics of the people using the service, the context the service was working within and how this impacted service delivery. The practice was previously inspected in July 2016 and rated Good. We carried out a comprehensive inspection on 13 and14 November 2025 and rated the practice Good in all key domains and Good overall.

 

People's experience of this service

The practice pro-actively encouraged people to give feedback and used feedback from people who used the service to make improvements. Feedback we reviewed, such as data shared from the NHS ‘Friends and Family Test’ showed that the majority of patient experience was positive. 73% of patients surveyed said they found their care at the practice to be either ‘Very Good’ or ‘Good.’

The results of the National GP Patient Survey found 73% of patients described their overall experience of Merridale Medical Centre as ‘Good’ which was in line with the local average of 72% and the national average of 75%. 83% of patients reported the healthcare professional they saw or spoke to was good at treating them with care and concern during their last general practice appointment. 83% of patients reported the healthcare professional they saw or spoke to was good at listening to them during their last general practice appointment. 78% of patients found the reception and administrative team at Merridale Medical Centre helpful.
