Our view of the service
Stillington Surgery is a dispensing GP practice in a rural village close to the city of York, North Yorkshire. The practice delivers services to around 3,800 people under a contract held with NHS England. The National General Practice Profiles states that the ethnic make-up of the practice area was 98.02% White, 0.5% Asian, 0.5% Black, and other ethnicities 0.3%. Information published by Office for Health Improvement and Disparities shows that deprivation within the practice population group is in the 8th decile (8 of 10). The lower the decile, the more deprived the practice population is relative to others. The practice had a higher-than-average demographic of patients aged 65 and over.
We carried out an assessment and rated this practice under our previous methodology in September 2015. The practice was rated Good overall and for all key questions. This assessment was carried out due to the length of time since our previous assessment.

People's experience of this service
People were mostly positive about the quality of their care and treatment. Recent survey results, including from the National GP Patient Survey and the NHS Friends and Family Test, showed people were satisfied with services, with 94% describing their overall experience of this GP practice as good, the national average is 75%. National GP patient survey data results were above average for all aspects of people’s experience of Stillington Surgery. There was an active PPG who represented the views of people using the service.
