Well-led
Well-led – this means we looked for evidence that service leadership, management and governance assured high-quality, person-centred care; supported learning and innovation; and promoted an open, fair culture.
At our last assessment we rated this key question requires improvement. At this assessment the rating has improved to good. This meant the management and leadership was consistent. Leaders and the culture they created supported the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care.

The provider had a clear shared vision, strategy and culture which was based on transparency, equity, equality and human rights, diversity and inclusion, and engagement. Staff were aware of the aims of the service. Staff told us there was a positive culture in the team. One staff member told us, “We all get on well, we go team building, everyone is happy to talk if there is a problem. I feel very valued.” Another staff member told us, “The culture has definitely improved, everyone gets on. I really do feel valued and really enjoy my job.” Our observations of interactions between people and staff were positive, staff spoke positively about people.
Capable, compassionate and inclusive leaders
The service had inclusive leaders at all levels who understood the context in which they delivered care, treatment and support and embodied the culture and values of their workforce and organisation. Leaders had the skills, knowledge, experience and credibility to lead effectively. They did so with integrity, openness and honesty.
Staff felt supported and were positive about the management. Comments included, “I have been really supported by [name of registered manager]” and “[Name of registered manager] is very supportive and always there when I need them, I can always ring them, they listen and give feedback.” One relative told us, “I have never had anything to report to [name of registered manager], I am aware of them. Things get sorted and [name of person] has good core people supporting them. I am very happy with [name of person] at the moment, they are in a good place. I hope it carries on the way it is going.”
Freedom to speak up
The service fostered a positive culture where people felt they could speak up and their voice would be heard. The service had a whistle blowing policy in place, and staff we spoke with felt able to raise concerns and were confident action would be taken. We were told the registered manager was very approachable and staff felt able to raise any concerns. One staff member told us, “I haven't had to use the whistleblowing policy. I would raise a potential safeguarding. [Name of registered manager] doesn’t brush things under the carpet, they escalate them.”
Workforce equality, diversity and inclusion
The service valued diversity in their workforce. They worked towards an inclusive and fair culture by improving equality and equity for people who work for them. Staff felt they were treated fairly and equally. Staff told us they felt valued and respected and thought it was a good place to work. One staff member told us, “I really do feel valued and really enjoy my job.”
Governance, management and sustainability
We did not look at Governance, management and sustainability during this assessment. The score for this quality statement is based on the previous rating for Well-led.
Partnerships and communities
The service understood their duty to collaborate and work in partnership. However, on 1 occasion they had not shared information promptly with a person’s GP. We received some mixed feedback from professionals. Two professionals told us sharing information in between professional meetings had been an area of concern. However, another professional commented positively about this. The provider shared some anonymous feedback from a professional they had received stating the overall quality of care and support they experienced during their visit was “Outstanding” and they would recommend the service. Another professional told us they had no concerns about the service.
