Caring
We looked for evidence the practice involved people and treated them with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect. At our last assessment, we rated this key question as good.

Kindness, compassion and dignity
The practice always treated people with kindness, empathy and compassion and respected their privacy and dignity. Staff treated colleagues from other organisations with kindness and respect.
The results of the 2026 National GP Patient Survey (GPPS) were published on the 9 July 2026. This involved feedback from 98 patients. The practice generally performed in line with local and national averages in the GPPS in relation to caring aspects of the service.
- For example, 83% of respondents said the healthcare professional they saw or spoke to was good at listening to them during their last general practice appointment and that the healthcare professional they saw or spoke to was good at treating them with care and concern during their last general practice appointment. This compared with local averages of 86% and 84% respectively, and national averages of 87% and 86%
- 77% of respondents said the healthcare professional they saw or spoke to was good at considering their mental wellbeing during their last general practice appointment, compared with the local and national averages of 75%.
- 81% of respondents found the reception and administrative team at this GP practice helpful, compared with the local average of 83%. (National average 85%)
- 76% of respondents described their overall experience of this GP practice as good, compared with the local average of 75%. (National average 77%)
We reviewed the practice’s results in the Friends and Family Test between January 2025 and May 2026. There had been 270 patient responses, with 99% being positive regarding the service – 187 rating the practice as very good and 78 rating it as good.
In preparation for this assessment, we received direct feedback from patient using our website from 77 patients. Sixty-eight patients were positive regarding caring aspects of the service, with 9 being neutral or negative. Their comments included:
- “Very kind and compassionate……Always professional and willing to give you time.”
- “Very very good, very caring, always listen to you.”
- “The practice has consistently been understanding and accommodating.”
- “Explains everything clearly and makes me feel comfortable and respected during every visit.”
- “Reception staff extremely friendly and efficient.”
- “Reception staff always helpful and available and communication by phone and text is much appreciated.”
The practice also conducted its own annual patient survey, most recently in May 2026 involving 54 patients of a diverse group of ages, genders, and ethnicities. Although unverified, we noted the results relating to the practice being a caring service were positive.
Staff had received training in Consent, the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and in relation to people with learning disabilities and autism. Staff understood Gillick competency and there was a process to ensure young adults had control over their own privacy and the amount of parental involvement in managing their care and support. Staff had undertaken chaperone training and notices informing patients that chaperones were available were posted in the consultation rooms.
We received feedback from 14 staff members. They were very positive regarding the culture of the practice. It was apparent that they worked together to provide a patient-centred and caring service. Patient feedback was positive regarding the continuity of care the practice provided.
