Caring – this means we looked for evidence that the provider involved people and treated them with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect.
At our last assessment we rated this key question good. At this assessment the rating has changed to requires improvement. This meant people and staff were not always well-supported.

Kindness, compassion and dignity
The provider treated people with kindness and respected their dignity.
The person’s relative spoke well of the member of staff who cared for their relative. They told us the staff member was polite and caring.
Treating people as individuals
The provider treated people as individuals and made sure people’s care, support and treatment met people’s preferences.
The person’s relative felt care was arranged around their relative’s needs.
Independence, choice and control
The provider promoted people’s independence, so people had choice and control over their own care.
The person was consulted with in the planning and delivery of their care. However, improvements were needed to ensure the provider promoted their rights in relation to sharing information with third parties if required.
Responding to people’s immediate needs
The person’s relative was confident the member of staff supporting their relative responded to their wishes as they arose.
Workforce wellbeing and enablement
The provider did not care about or promote the wellbeing of their staff. They did not support or enable staff to deliver person-centred care.
Staff were not supported to have all the training required to ensure they always provided a person-centred care experience. The provider had not ensured staff received regular constructive support. Nor had they checked overseas staff had a right to work here and were safe.
