During a routine inspection

We spoke with two people who received a service from Papworth Trust – Cambridgeshire, and one person’s relative. People told us they were happy. One said, “They’re alright, it’s all OK and it’s all good.” The relative told us, “We’re extremely happy about how they’re looking after [name]. [Name] has come on leaps and bounds, the staff really understand them……We can’t sing their praises highly enough.”

The agency ensured that people gave their consent to the care and support that was planned for them. Support plans gave staff clear and concise detail about the support each person required at each visit so that their needs were met in the way they preferred.

Procedures were in place, and staff were trained, in safeguarding vulnerable adults from abuse. Medicines were managed safely so that people received their medicines as they were prescribed.

Staff recruitment ensured that only staff who were suitable to work with vulnerable people were employed by the service. Staff received a wide range of training and felt well supported. One staff member said, “This is a really rewarding job, keeping people independent in their own homes.” Another told us, “It’s made such a difference that we can now do care.”

The provider had systems in place to monitor the quality of the service being provided to people.
