During a routine inspection

During our inspection we spoke with a relative of one of the people using the service. This was because the person using the service was unable to communicate with us due to their complex needs. The relative told us 'I'm very happy with the service. If I had had any doubts or concerns I would have raised them by now'. They told us how the service had involved them in assessing and planning their relative's care, and had developed a care plan which met their specific care and support needs. They also said they had been able to meet their relative's proposed carer prior to using the service, to check they were suitably qualified. They told us the registered manager regularly asked them for their views and experiences of the service and used this information to improve the way care and support was delivered.

We looked at the plans in place to provide care and support to people using the service. We found there were instructions and guidance for staff about how to meet people's care and support needs.

Staff had received recent training to keep their skills and knowledge up to date. They were given guidance and instructions about what they should do to protect people who may be at risk of abuse, harm or neglect.

The registered manager carried out checks to asses and monitor the quality of service provided.
