Our view of the service

Date of inspection: 26 May to 18 June 2026.

Havengore House is a residential care home. They are currently registered to support adults and older adults with dementia, mental health conditions and physical disabilities.

There were 30 people living at the service on the date the inspection commenced. This was a comprehensive inspection of all quality statements, which was prompted due to the age of the last rating. The last comprehensive inspection of the service was in 2022, where the service was rated as Good.

We carried out an unannounced visit to the service on 26 May 2026.

At this inspection, the service demonstrated consistently high‑quality care across all areas. All key questions remain rated Good, with evidence showing that people received safe, effective, caring, responsive and well‑led support. Feedback from people, relatives and professionals was overwhelmingly positive and reflected a stable, well‑managed service where good outcomes were consistently achieved.

People were supported safely by a provider that had strong systems in place to identify, manage and reduce risks. A proactive culture of safety was evident. People, relatives and professionals expressed confidence in the safety of the service and in staff’s ability to respond appropriately to changing needs.

Care and support were effective and based on best practice. People’s needs were thoroughly assessed and reviewed regularly in partnership with them. Evidence showed that people’s health and wellbeing were promoted, with access to healthcare and rehabilitation support contributing to improved quality of life.

The service was caring, with staff consistently treating people with kindness, dignity and respect. Observations and feedback showed that staff developed meaningful relationships with people and took time to understand their preferences, backgrounds and emotional needs.

The service was responsive to people’s needs. Care planning was person-centred, detailed and regularly reviewed, ensuring support reflected people’s current wishes and requirements.

The service was well led, with strong, visible leadership and effective governance systems.

Overall, the service provided consistently safe, effective and person‑centred care, achieving positive outcomes for people and maintaining high standards across all areas.

People's experience of this service

People’s experiences of the service were consistently positive. Feedback from relatives indicated that people were well cared for, felt safe and were supported by a staff team who were described as kind, compassionate and attentive. Many relatives told us their family member had settled well at the service, and some reported noticeable improvements in wellbeing, engagement and overall quality of life since moving to the home.

Relatives told us they felt their family members were safe and supported by staff who understood their needs. They consistently described the home as clean, well maintained and free from unpleasant odours. Relatives also told us they were kept informed about incidents such as falls and changes in health, and that they were involved in care planning and reviews.

People and their relatives spoke positively about the caring nature of staff. They described staff as patient, respectful and skilled, particularly in supporting people living with dementia. Many said staff went “above and beyond” by offering reassurance, spending time with people and supporting meaningful interactions.

There was positive feedback about activities and engagement. Relatives reported improvements in the range and organisation of activities, particularly following the introduction of a dedicated activities coordinator.

Relatives told us the home was well led and described the management team as approachable, responsive and supportive. They felt comfortable raising concerns and were confident any issues would be addressed.

Relatives expressed high levels of satisfaction and confidence in the care provided. Many described the service as a safe, caring and well‑run environment where people were treated with dignity, respect and supported to live comfortably.
