Our view of the service
About the service
Kindherts Care Services Limited is a domiciliary care agency providing personal care and support to people living in their own homes.
Who the service is for
The agency supports younger and older adults living with dementia and physical disabilities. At the time of the assessment, the service was supporting 18 people with the regulated activity of personal care.
Key findings
We conducted this assessment between 11 August 2026 and 11 September 2026. We conducted this assessment to confirm whether the rating of good remains accurate. This report does not provide detailed information on areas where we found practice continues to meet a good standard. Instead, our findings focus on any area where the service needs to improve or where we found exceptional practice.
People were mostly supported by enough staff. Minor lateness occurred occasionally but was reported as an inconvenience with no impact on care. Improvements were needed to develop care staff training and make supervision more robust for staff development.
Governance systems were in place but not always effective in identifying and addressing concerns. The provider had partnered with an external support company to develop these systems, demonstrating transparency and a commitment to stronger oversight.
Systems were in place to safeguard people from abuse and harm. Staff understood safeguarding responsibilities, following incident reporting procedures, and knew how to escalate concerns or seek emergency assistance.
Risks were well-assessed and managed with clear staff guidance. External professionals praised the agency for sending clear, timely referrals when patient needs changed. One professional said, “Kindherts send clear referrals to us when patient needs change which we can then respond to in a timely manner.” People’s needs were assessed before care was provided with consideration given to their health, care, wellbeing and communication needs. Care plans were personalised which helped to make sure care was provided in accordance with people’s individual needs and preferences. Staff had knowledge of the people they supported and told us care plans gave them the information they needed to effectively support people.”
Staff knew people well and understood their individual needs. People and relatives all told us that staff provided care, which was considered warm, kind and sensitive. This helped staff recognise changes in people's support needs and respond appropriately.
Staff had raised an issue around having greater responsibility and more in depth training to support their development, which the provider had listened to and was in the process of implementing.
People's experience of this service
We spoke with 2 people and 7 relatives to understand people’s experience of the care provided.
People and relatives gave positive feedback about the care they received. Although we identified some improvements around the oversight and monitoring of the service, this did not impact people’s experience of care.
People told us they felt safe and comfortable with the staff who supported them. Comments included, “I feel very confident that my mother is safe with the carers and I am comfortable knowing that Kindherts has her health and best interests in mind.”
People benefitted from staff and other professionals working together to meet their changing health needs promptly. One person’s relative told us, “If an ambulance must be called, the carers notify me and keep me updated when anything changes. I have no concerns about the care my [relative] receives.”
People experienced calls that were mostly on time and if late were contacted to inform them. Although people said staff would occasionally leave before the planned agreed time, so experienced calls at times shorter than they planned. One person said, “The carers normally arrive at the expected time, sometimes the carers stay for the full visit but at other times they rush away.”
People experienced safe care and told us staff were able to meet their needs appropriately. One relative said, “I believe the quality of care reflects the service recruiting people with the right attitude.”
People experienced good outcomes from care that was planned and delivered well. One relative told us, “We previously used Kindherts Care when my mother had a shoulder replacement, so we already knew what the service was like and liked them and trusted them again.”
People experienced person centred care that was flexible to their needs to help support independence. One professional told us, “We feel their care management is excellent and have no concerns with the care provided, often hearing positive feedback from people about the care they receive. We find that Kindherts care to be a very initiative-taking group of carers helping to encourage patients in all aspects of their daily lives.”
People, relatives, and professionals told us they found managers at all levels open, supportive, and approachable. One relative commented, “The service has maintained a good relationship with me even when I have raised concerns. Managers communicate openly with me about changes, respond quickly, and listen when I contact them and takes responsibility when they make a mistake.”
