Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 27 May to 20 July 2026. We conducted this assessment due to concerns we received about the leadership of the service. Ashchurch View is a nursing home. The service is registered for 60 service users. At the time of the assessment there were 50 people living at the service. The service is divided into 3 different communities, or units. There is a small community on the ground floor, alongside 2 communities on the first floor, one of which is specifically designed to accommodate people living with dementia.
This service is dual registered with 2 providers. This means each provider is a legal entity and the service will have 2 reports.
The service worked in harmony with people who were at the centre of their care. Leaders instilled a culture of improvement, where understanding current outcomes and exploring best practice was part of staff’s everyday work.
People were supported in line with their individual needs and always treated with dignity and respect.
Effective partnership working ensured care and treatment met the diverse needs of people.
People were supported to maintain relationships and participate in a range of meaningful activities. Relatives spoke positively about communication with the service and felt involved in important decisions affecting their family members.
We found several areas of good practice across the service. People were supported to maintain their health and wellbeing through effective healthcare support, safe medicines management and good infection prevention and control practices. Positive partnership working helped ensure people's needs were identified and responded to appropriately.
Feedback indicated leaders were approachable and supportive and had fostered a culture which was open to feedback and continuous improvement.
