Governance, management and sustainability
The provider had clearly defined responsibilities, roles and governance systems in place. However, feedback from people, relatives and staff indicated that a period of management change had affected the consistency of service delivery. Relatives described difficulties communicating with the office, delays in resolving issues and a lack of continuity in management oversight. One relative told us, “The head office of Helping Hands perhaps needs to brush up on its administration.” Another said, “They do appear to have management and staffing issues.” However, some relatives told us the situation had started to improve under the new registered manager, who had taken steps to address concerns and improve communication. Leaders acknowledged the impact of recent instability and were implementing changes to strengthen oversight, communication and continuity across the service.
Partnerships and communities
We did not look at Partnerships and communities during this assessment. The score for this quality statement is based on the previous rating for Well-led.
Learning, improvement and innovation
The provider focused on continuous learning, innovation and improvement across the organisation and local system. They encouraged creative ways of delivering equality of experience, outcome and quality of life for people. They actively contributed to safe, effective practice and research.
