Our view of the service

Meadow Grange Nursing Home Limited is a residential home without nursing care for older people, some of whom are living with dementia. At the time of our visit, there were 53 people living at the home. The inspection was prompted in part, due to concerns we received about staffing and medicine management as well as the length of time passed since our last inspection. A decision was made for us to assess and examine those risks. We undertook a focused inspection to review some of the key questions relevant to those areas.

People's experience of this service

We spoke with 11 people on site, plus one family member, and our off-site assessment activity continued, with phone calls to seven further family members about their experience of the service. People and their relatives told us that there had been a number of changes since the last inspection. These included a new registered manager, and a new electronic recording system. Some people and their relatives felt further improvements could be made in relation to being kept informed about events and being included in care planning; yet others told us they were kept fully informed and felt very involved. All people we spoke with told us that they felt safe and well supported at Meadow Grange. Some people shared how they sometimes had to wait for staff support, especially at busy times and a number of people mentioned recent changes in staff. However, people told us that staff knew of their individual needs and supported them well to have their desired experiences and outcomes. People felt they were being cared for by staff who had received the appropriate advice and training in order to support them effectively.
