Theservicehad clear responsibilities, roles, systems of accountability and good governance. They used theseto manageand deliver good quality, sustainablecare, treatment and support. They act on thebest information about risk, performanceand outcomes, and sharethis securely with others when appropriate.
All staff we spoke with were clear about their individual roles and responsibilities. Leaders proactively supported staff and regularly met with them to complete appraisals and performance reviews. The provider had established governance processes in relation to the quality statements we reviewed during this assessment, which were appropriate for their practice.
Required policies and procedures were accessible to staff, kept up to date and aligned with current guidance. Leaders held regular meetings with staff, during which they discussed emerging risks and potential improvements to the practice. Actions arising from meetings were clearly documented and shared with staff. Staff took confidentiality and information security seriously, which included verifying people’s identity during remote consultations. Staff submitted data and notifications to external agencies as required.
The practice had developed an internal IT system to support policy management and governance processes. Staff were able to access, review and acknowledge policies relevant to their roles through a single platform. The system also provided real-time guidance by directing staff to relevant policies and identifying appropriate actions or policy leads. Oversight arrangements enabled managers to monitor whether policies were current, reviewed and understood by staff. The practice told us the system was being further developed to incorporate updates from national guidance and regulatory publications, including CQC Mythbusters, NICE and MHRA guidance, to support the timely review and updating of policies when changes occurred.
A staff survey had been completed, and feedback received regarding pay and staff wellbeing was acted upon. As a result, staff received a pay increase, one to one wellbeing meetings were introduced, and a wellbeing pack containing details of local support services was made available to staff.
