Overview

Inspection carried out on 13 February 2013

During a routine inspection

We visited Belgravia Nursing and Care and looked at the care and welfare of people who used the service. During the inspection we spoke with nine people who used the service (or their relatives), eight members of staff and a Social Worker.

People who used the service told us that they felt respected by staff. One relative said “When we first started they sent someone around and we talked about our needs, they made sure that my (family member) was involved in the discussion.” Another person told us “We were able to talk to staff about (the person’s) needs, and they explained everything to us about the care they could provide.” A third person told us “They found out what was important to us by talking to us.”

People received care and welfare that met their needs. Everyone we spoke with was happy with the care being provided to them.

People using the service told us they felt safe with staff. Staff we spoke with were able to identify signs of abuse and knew the actions to take.

The staff we spoke with told us they felt supported to do their job. One staff member told us “I enjoy it here.” Another staff member said “I feel very supported by the office.”

People using the service told us that if they were unhappy about anything they would tell the office. They were confident that something would be done to sort the issue. One person said “If I have a problem I phone the office, and they always sort it quickly.”
