Our view of the service

Date of assessment 5 to 14 November 2025. Hepworth House is a residential care home. The service supports older people who may be living with dementia and/or physical disabilities.

At our last inspection the provider was in breach of legal regulations in relation to safe care and treatment, safeguarding, person-centred care and governance. At this inspection we found enough improvements had been made and the provider was no longer in breach of legal regulations. As a result, the service is no longer in special measures.

People were safeguarding from the risk of abuse. The provider had improved the environment, and it was safe and clean. There were enough staff deployed who were recruited safely. Staff told us they felt able to approach leaders and raise concerns. The service had worked with external health professionals. People’s needs were assessed and person-centred care plans were in place which reflected people’s needs and preferences. A staff member told us, “I enjoy my job very much, I love what I do, and I know the residents appreciate it.”

People's experience of this service

Not everyone living at Hepworth House could tell us about the experiences of the care they received. Where this was the case, we reviewed records relating to their care, spoke with their relatives, staff and observed their interactions with other people.

People and their relatives told us they felt safe. There were systems in place to review the care they received, seek feedback and act upon these. People had been involved as much as possible with care planning. We observed people were offered choices and their choices were respected. People received regular support to take part in activities and pastimes. A relative said, “I can see that the staff are respectful and kind towards [my relative] and seem genuinely fond of them.”
