Our view of the service
Pall Mall Medical Centre is a hair transplant clinic in Manchester and is operated by The Hair Loss Clinic (NW) Limited. The service provides hair transplants for private fee-paying adults and offers two hair transplant methods: Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT).
Pall Mall Medical Centre is an independent service provider that leases the location. The clinic is located on the lower ground floor of the building and there is a service level agreement (SLA) with the lessor for use of the rooms, waste disposal, equipment maintenance and consumables. The service also has 15 satellite clinics across the UK where the preoperative face to face assessments can be carried out.
We conducted a short, announced inspection of surgery on 15 September 2025 as part of our scheduled inspections.
We rated surgery overall as good.
We found breaches in safe care and treatment, fit and proper persons employed and fit and proper persons – directors. The service immediately actioned the concerns regarding surgical blades and handwashing.
We found examples of good practice in how the service cared for people, responded to their needs, and delivered effective treatment. The service followed a detailed audit schedule and focused strongly on patient care and outcomes. Staff completed thorough pre-surgery checks to ensure successful outcomes.
At the time of our inspection, the UK had no mandatory accredited qualification for hair transplant surgery. However, only doctors licensed by the General Medical Council (GMC) performed the surgical parts of the hair transplant. Doctors at the service held valid licences and were members of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS).
Leaders showed compassionate and effective leadership.
People's experience of this service
People who used the service shared positive feedback about their experience. They described staff as kind, caring, and informative. People told us that staff provided clear and detailed information before surgery, which helped them feel well-prepared and confident about the procedure.
On the day of surgery, staff took time to reassure people to create a calm, supportive environment. People reported feeling cared for and comfortable and told us they experienced no pain during the procedure.
People told us they received thorough aftercare, including personalised advice and ongoing contact from the service. Staff followed up people to monitor their recovery and progress. This continuity of care helped people feel safe and well looked after during their recovery.
People told us they would recommend the service to others, citing professionalism, kindness, and high standard of care they received. Their feedback reflected a strong sense of trust and satisfaction with the overall experience.
