At the focused follow-up inspection on 14 August 2026, we found the practice had made the following improvements to comply with the regulations.

The under-sink cupboard in the basement kitchen, used to store substances hazardous to health, was secure and labelled appropriately.

The external general waste bin was tethered a fixed point to prevent unauthorised access and vandalism.

The fire escape route from the basement kitchen was signed appropriately.

All fire alarm manual call points had the required signage in place.

General waste and recycling bins were secure to prevent unauthorised interference and vandalism.

Emergency lights were tested appropriately.

The automatic fire alarm was inspected at appropriate intervals.

Fire drills were carried out.

The fire risk assessment was carried out by someone who could demonstrate knowledge in the management of fire safety.

The practice had 2 gas boilers. Carbon monoxide detectors were available.

Air-conditioning unit servicing had been serviced.
Glucagon was stored in an unrefrigerated medical emergency bag. The practice had amended the expiry date to reflect this arrangement, in line with published guidance on safe storage.

Electromechanical servicing was carried out for all 6 X-ray machines.

The most recent 3 yearly x-ray dose test results for the OPG (Orthopantomogram) x-ray machine and 1 intra-oral x-ray machine were above the recommended dose level. The practice could demonstrate that remedial work or appropriate specialist advice had taken place to address this.

Environmental cleaning schedules, specific to the practice, were available.

Treatment Rooms 4 and 5 floor coverings were complete and impervious.

An annual infection prevention and control statement was available.

The external clinical general bin was tethered a fixed point to prevent unauthorised access and vandalism.

The disability access audit had been reviewed, and vision aids were available.

A General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliant accident book was in use.

A health and safety risk assessment had been carried out.

The practice was able to demonstrate that actions resulting from an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) had been carried out.

The practice had a recruitment policy and procedures that reflected relevant legislation, to help them employ suitable staff.

The practice ensured staff training, including continuing professional development, was up-to-date and reviewed at the required intervals.

Completed accident, patient complaints and staff records were not stored securely to protect personal data. The provider assured us that bespoke cabinetry was planned to ensure secure storage.

Staff meetings took place.

Patient referrals to other dental or health care, professionals were centrally monitored to ensure they were received in a timely manner and not lost.

We noted 2 shortfalls that remained outstanding:

Appraisals/performance reviews were not carried out for all the people who worked at the practice.

The cupboard in the in the practice stairwell, used to store COSHH products, was signed but not secured appropriately.
