Systems and processes had improved and were effective. Managers used data to manage and monitor key quality and patient safety information.

During our last inspection we found the provider had failed to operate effective systems and processes to make sure they assess and monitor their service against the regulations. During this inspection we found improvements had been made.

Leaders had received additional training to better understand the regulations and improve service delivery. An improved governance structure was in place including additional support from regional staff. Audits we looked at were thorough and in depth. In addition, was saw good examples of actions arising from audits being allocated to a named individual and improvements made in a timely manner.

Since the last inspection a new quarterly audit had been implemented to review the quality of patients’ mental health records. The audit looks in detail at a sample of patient records and any actions identified from the audit are reviewed with staff in a supervision meeting. The results of the audit are also discussed at a clinical governance meeting each month. Staff we spoke with during the inspection felt the mental health team was well-led and that they felt supported.
