Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 8 to 23 June 2026. Woodfield Care Home Ltd is registered to provide accommodation and personal care to older people, some of whom are living with dementia, have a sensory impairment or a physical disability. The service provides care and support for up to 36 people. At the time of the assessment there were 23 people using the service. At our last assessment, published January 2026, the service was rated inadequate. The provider was in breach of legal regulations in relation to safe care and treatment, good governance and staffing. We carried out this assessment to review actions taken by the provider following our last assessment, which covered all key questions and quality statements. We identified areas of improvement since the last assessment; however, there were some shortfalls identified in the areas of medication management, agency staff competencies, the recording of people’s weights, faulty call buzzers and falls mats, and notifications to the Care Quality Commission (CQC). These issues were raised with the senior leadership team who actioned the concerns immediately.

Staff were recruited safely and completed statutory and mandatory training, along with competencies. There were generally enough staff available to meet people’s needs; however, some staff told us they felt under pressure at times because of staffing levels. Staff knew people well and mainly felt supported by the provider. Our observations of the care provided were positive, and people and their relatives told us they were satisfied with the service. The service presented as clean and smelt fresh, with evidence of robust cleaning procedures in place to prevent the spread of infection. We were made aware of a recent outbreak of infectious illness which was referred to the local authority infection prevention and control team. The people affected were treated and isolated; however, the infection prevention and control team continued to monitor the service.

Governance systems were mainly effective in monitoring and improving the quality of the service, in relation to incident management, safeguarding, and risk assessments.

People's experience of this service

We spoke with 2 people who used the service and 4 relatives about their experience of the care provided. Some people were unable to share their experiences directly, so we spent time observing interactions with staff. To support this, we used the Short Observational Framework for Inspection (SOFI), a structured tool which helps us understand people’s experiences and assess whether they receive good care. These interactions were warm, caring and positive, with evidence seen of improved moving and handling techniques. People were supported by staff who knew them well and were kind, caring and empathetic. People were supported in ways that promoted dignity, respect and independence.

People were encouraged to take part in activities and social interaction and were supported to make choices about their day‑to‑day lives, including how they spent their time and what activities they joined.

Overall, people and relatives told us they were satisfied with the service. A relative told us, “[person] is very happy here”.
