Our view of the service
Assessment activity started on 6 March 2026 and ended on 6 May 2026. Support Care Services is a domiciliary care agency registered to provide personal care. It provides personal care and support to people living in their own homes. At the time of the inspection five people were using the service.
CQC only inspects the service received by people provided with 'personal care'; help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do, we also take into account any wider social care provided.
The last rating for the service was good. During this assessment, we found the quality of service had deteriorated. The overall rating for the service now requires improvement. We assessed all the quality statements from the safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led key questions.
This service is registered for use by autistic people or people with a learning disability. At the time of the assessment, the service was not used by anyone with a learning disability or an autistic person. However, we assessed the care provision under Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture, as it is registered for this population group. Provisions were in place including staff who had undertaken autism and learning disabilities training to ensure people with autism or learning disabilities received the appropriate support when using the service.
There was a registered manager in post at the time of this assessment. We found 2 breaches of regulation in relation to fit and proper persons employed and good governance. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment. There were procedures to respond to safeguarding and incidents. Staff felt supported and received mandatory training. A complaints procedure was in place. The service worked in partnership with healthcare professionals to deliver an effective service and sought feedback from people and their relatives to drive improvement.
During this assessment, we spoke with 1 person, 4 relatives, 3 staff members and the registered manager.
