We looked for evidence that service users were treated with kindness, empathy and compassion. We checked that people's privacy and dignity was respected, that they understood that they and their experience of how they were treated and supported mattered.
At our last assessment we rated this key question good. At this assessment the rating has remained good. This meant service users felt supported, cared for or treated with dignity and respect.

We always treat people with kindness, empathy and compassion and we respect their privacy and dignity. We treat colleagues from other organisations with kindness and respect.
We scored the service as 3. The evidence showed a good standard. The service always treated people with kindness, empathy and compassion and respected their privacy and dignity.
We looked at feedback from service users who used the service. Feedback was mostly positive. Service users felt they were treated with kindness, compassion and dignity in their care and support.
We observed three couples who used the baby scanning service being listened to and communicated with appropriately. Service users were given the option to ask questions. The registered manager demonstrated knowledge and shared information in a way that service users could understand.

We scored the service as 2. The evidence showed some shortfalls. The service did not always treat people as individuals or make sure people’s care, support and treatment met people’s needs and preferences. They did not always take account of people’s strengths, abilities, aspirations, culture and unique backgrounds and protected characteristics.
The registered manager did not always treat service users as individuals or make sure people’s care, support and treatment met people’s needs and preferences. There was little evidence that people’s culture and unique backgrounds and protected characteristics were considered as part of the service.
The registered manager did not make adjustments for patients. For example, by ensuring people’s access to premises for those with mobility issues. The registered manager said he would provide physical support to service users if needed.
The registered manager offered access a free British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter whenever needed for deaf patients. However, there were no leaflet options available in languages spoken by patients.

We scored the service as 3. The evidence showed a good standard. The service promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing.
The registered manager provided information and options to those who used the service.
The website for the service informed women that the clinic did not provide obstetric care. There was clear information provided that the ultrasound scan was for personal and non-medical reasons. Forms given to service users were clear that scans did not replace any NHS scan appointments. The registered manager clearly explained this to service users at their appointments. The website did not explicitly inform service users that private vascular screening service was not a replacement for NHS screening.

We scored the service as 3. The evidence showed a good standard. The registered manager listened to and understood people’s needs, views and wishes. The registered manager responded to people’s needs in the moment and acted to minimise any discomfort, concern or distress.
The registered manager was well versed and trained in how to delicately deliver unwelcome news. They described how to sensitively share information with service users.
Workforce wellbeing and enablement
We care about and promote the wellbeing of our staff, and we support and enable them to always deliver person centred care.
We scored the service as 3. The evidence showed a good standard. The service cared about and promoted the wellbeing of their staff and supported and enabled staff to always deliver person-centred care.
The registered manager worked alone and ensured they had a good work life balance which considered their family commitments and individual wellbeing.
