Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 28 April 2026 to 12 May 2026. Care and Support Service Sandford Station is a domiciliary care service registered to provide personal care to individuals living in their own homes. This service provides care to people living in their own apartments in an extra care housing complex. Extra care housing is purpose-built or adapted single household accommodation in a shared site or building.

CQC only inspects the service being received by people provided with 'personal care’; such as help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do, we also consider any wider social care provided. At the time of the inspection the service supported 28 people who were receiving personal care.

People’s care plans contained important information about the person and how they wanted their care to be provided. Guidance and risk assessments were completed, and staff knew people and their individual needs.

People were supported by staff who gave them choice and control and who promoted their independence. People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff protected their privacy and dignity. They treated them as individuals and supported their preferences. People told us care could be adapted to their needs, and staff were available to support in the event of an emergency.

Staff were recruited safely and received appropriate training to carry out their roles.

The provider had systems which ensured effective governance and identified areas of improvement for the service.
