Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 22 to 30 July 2026.
People received their medicines safely and in line with prescribed instructions. Systems were in place to support the safe storage, administration and recording of medicines. The provider had procedures for managing accidents, incidents and safeguarding concerns. When issues occurred, these were reviewed and acted upon to help keep people safe and improve practice where needed.
Risks to people's health, safety and wellbeing had been identified and assessed. Staff had access to guidance on how to support people safely, and risk assessments were reviewed to ensure they reflected people's current needs. There were enough suitably trained staff to meet people's needs. Appropriate recruitment checks were completed before staff started work, helping to ensure they were suitable for their roles.
People's needs were assessed to help ensure care and support were tailored to their individual circumstances, preferences and goals. Staff monitored people's health and wellbeing and sought consent before providing personal care. This showed people were treated with dignity and respect and were involved in decisions about their care. Care records provided clear information about how people wished to be supported. Staff knew people well and adapted their communication to suit individual needs, helping people to express their views and make choices about their support.
The provider had systems in place to monitor the quality and safety of the service. Although a range of audits and checks were in place, some had not always been reviewed consistently. There was no evidence this had impacted on people's care or safety. People, relatives and staff all spoke positively about the service and did not raise any concerns regarding the quality of care provided. The provider acknowledged the shortfall and confirmed they would take steps to improve the consistency of oversight and monitoring arrangements. Staff spoke positively about the support they received from the registered manager and the team, describing an open and supportive culture where they felt comfortable raising concerns, discussing issues and sharing ideas to improve the service.
People's experience of this service
As part of this assessment, we spoke with people using the service and their relatives to understand their experiences and gather their views about the care provided. Feedback was positive and people told us they felt safe receiving support from the service. One relative told us, “Exemplary care. There is a consistent approach from staff and the carers are always willing to do extra jobs, such as washing up. It is very reassuring and I have no negative comments or experiences to share.”
People and relatives were generally happy with staff arriving at the expected times. Some people told us visit times could vary occasionally depending on the needs of the service. We reviewed information from the provider's electronic call monitoring system, which showed visits were being completed within scheduled times. Some care logs were logged retrospectively but did not always record the actual call time. One person told us, “They always let me know in good time if there is a delay. Staff are always asking if there is anything else they can do before they go.”
People and their relatives told us they were happy with the support they received with their medicines and were confident in staff's ability to support them safely. People felt staff were well trained and understood their needs. One person told us, “There are a number of different carers, and they all seem to be well trained. I suffer from arthritis and staff will always ask me directly if they think there is something I may need support with.”
People spoke positively about staff and described them as kind, caring and respectful. A person told us, “I have always had first-class attention. They enjoy what they do and I enjoy their company.” Another relative spoke positively about the willingness of staff to go the extra mile when providing support.

The comments from people and relatives reflected a positive experience of the service and the care provided.
