Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 10 April 2026 to 24 April 2026.

Cranbrook House is a ‘supported living’ service and is registered to provide the regulated activity of personal care to people, primarily with a learning disability living in their own homes. The service was supporting 2 people with personal care at the time of the assessment.

Not everyone using Cranbrook House received a regulated activity; the CQC only inspects the service being received by people provided with ‘personal care’; Where they do, we also take into account any wider social care provided. This assessment was carried out with a site visit to the office location on 14 April 2026 and a supported living service on 20 April 2026.

We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

At our last inspection in April 2018 the service was rated Good. However, we found some shortfalls with robust quality assurance systems not being in place. We found improvement had been made in this area.

Safeguarding systems were in place to ensure people were safeguarded from abuse. Staff received training to perform their roles effectively, which included training on learning disabilities. Pre-assessment systems were in place to ensure people were able to get the support they needed.

Risk assessments were in place for identified risks to ensure people received safe care. Medicines were being managed safely. People’s consent were sought before support was provided. There were enough staff to support people. Staff were recruited safely.

Quality assurance systems were in place. Feedback was sought from people and staff to ensure there was a culture of continuous improvement. People were supported to express their views. Staff were positive about working at the service and were supported by the management team.
