During a routine inspection

We spoke with three people who used the service and four relatives of people. We also spoke with the manager, care co-ordinator and six members of staff. One person who used the service said "staff were very kind and understanding". Another person told us "I look forward to Fridays when X visits me. She is such a tonic and uplifts me." Another person told us it was important that their partner could go out when the care givers came to support them. They felt safe with them and they chose what they wanted to do.

The relatives of people who used the service said "The carers are a godsend, they know my husband so well and I have had the same carers for some time." The daughter of a person who used the service informed us: "It is invaluable and gives mum a break from caring for dad and he gets so much out of chatting to another man." One other relative said "they are absolutely brilliant and have been so reliable."

All six staff we spoke with said they were supported by the management team. They all felt valued by the training, communication and support they received from the provider. One member of staff told us they "enjoyed seeing people maintain their independence." Another said: "I adore my job and look forward to coming to work."

We found care plans were person centred and the person was able to choose what they did with their care time. The care plans reflected assessed needs and were delivered by staff with suitable skills, knowledge and experience.
