Our view of the service
We have rated the outpatient service as outstanding.
We carried out an unannounced assessment on 18, 19 and 20 November 2025 using our comprehensive methodology. We assessed all quality statements from the safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led key questions.
HCA Healthcare UK operates 8 private hospitals across the country, including The Christie Private Care (TCPC). HCA Healthcare UK entered into a joint venture with a partner NHS trust in 2009 and is a dedicated private cancer service. The service offers patients comprehensive cancer care pathways and access to supportive care. TCPC is based within the partner NHS trust.
Managers demonstrated excellent leadership, and staff showed passion for providing high-quality care to their patients. The service was well-governed with safe clinical care. There were embedded systems for safeguarding, incident management, and continuity of care that reflected best practice and learning.
People received personalised support from skilled practitioners who adapted care to individual needs, identities, and circumstances.
Clinical governance was effective and proportionate, with regular audits, supervision, and outcome monitoring in place to support service delivery and drive continuous improvement.
The service demonstrated inclusive, values-led leadership that created a positive culture where staff felt heard, supported, and able to work safely and compassionately. Throughout our visit, staff consistently demonstrated the provider's mission and values in their care delivery and interactions with patients and their families.
People's experience of this service
People told us they consistently experienced timely, respectful, and well-coordinated care, with strong links to external partners and feedback systems that informed meaningful service development and care planning. We saw evidence of ‘We Listen, We Learn, We improve’ in patient facing areas, which outlined actions from patient feedback. Staff and patients told us this information was updated regularly.
Patients, relatives, and carers were positive about the way staff treated them and told us they thought that staff went the extra mile, and care often exceeded their expectations. One patient told us the care was ‘amazing,’ with another saying, ‘I cannot fault them, it is impossible to pick a stand out member of staff when they all stand out for the care and support they have given me and my family.’
Patients told us they were offered fast and convenient access to a wide range of services and convenient appointments.
