Our view of the service
Date of Assessment: 21 April – 7 May 2026. The last rating for Beeches Care Home was requires improvement (published 15 December 2025).The provider was previously in breach of legal regulations in relation to safe care, mental capacity act and governance. We carried out this comprehensive assessment to see if the provider was now meeting regulations. Improvements were found at this assessment and the provider was no longer in breach of these regulations.
Beeches Care Home is a care home providing personal and nursing care to 30 people at the time of the inspection, some of whom were living with dementia. The home is across two floors in a purpose-built building. The service can support up to 54 people.
The service delivered a safe and effective standard of care, with several areas of good practice and ongoing improvement. While some incident reporting processes required further consistency, staff demonstrated a clear commitment to learning and reflective practice. Safeguarding systems were strong, and staff showed a good understanding of how to keep people safe. Risk management, staffing levels, infection control, and medicines management were all well maintained, supporting positive outcomes for people.
Care was personalised, with people’s needs assessed and supported effectively, though further opportunities existed to strengthen involvement in care planning. Staff were consistently kind, respectful, and promoted dignity, independence, and choice. Feedback about staff was largely positive, highlighting their supportive and compassionate approach.
Leadership had strengthened, creating a more open and supportive culture with improved teamwork and communication. Governance processes had improved and continued to develop. Overall, the service showed clear progress, delivering caring support while continuing to build on quality, responsiveness, and engagement.
People's experience of this service
Overall feedback was positive, with many describing the home as safe, caring and welcoming, particularly following recent improvements. One relative said, “We’re happy because mum’s happy… it is very welcoming.” Most people felt there were enough staff, and people were supported by staff they knew. Call bells were usually answered promptly, though occasional delays were noted.
Staff were widely described as kind and respectful, with comments such as, “They always speak and chat to her,” and “I find everything 10/10.” Dignity and privacy were maintained, and many felt staff knew people well, although experiences varied.
Care generally met people’s needs, with good healthcare support and positive outcomes, for example, “Mum can drink normally [now], she is improving all the time.” However, involvement in care planning was inconsistent, with some saying, “I’ve not seen a care plan.”
Leadership was seen as approachable, with people describing the manager as excellent. Overall, confidence in the service had improved.
