Our view of the service
Beeches Care Home is a care home providing personal and nursing care to 37 people at the time of the inspection, some of whom were living with dementia. The home is across two floors in a purpose-built building. The service can support up to 54 people.
The last rating for Beeches Care Home was good (published 6 January 2022). This inspection was prompted due concerns we received about care planning, documentation, risk management and managerial oversight.
During this assessment we found the service to be in breach of regulations relating to safe care, mental capacity act and governance. The overall rating for this service has changed to requires improvement.
Risks were not always identified, assessed or managed well. People’s care plans contained conflicting information and documentation was inconsistent. Where people lacked capacity to consent the relevant documentation was not always in place.
Whilst managerial support was in place, governance and oversight in the home was found to be ineffective to identify and address the risks and concerns mentioned in this report.

People's experience of this service
People told us they sometimes had to wait for support but felt staffing had improved recently with less agency staff used. People said they were not involved in their care planning and did not always feel listened to by staff or management.
However they were positive about the caring support they received, and they felt safe at the home. People’s comments included, “The regular staff are very friendly”, “They’re all very kind to me”, “The staff make it feel good as you get used to them and can have a laugh” and “They’re caring people.”
