Key findings

We carried out this assessment between 7 and 21 October 2026. The service was previously rated Good, and this assessment was undertaken to determine whether that rating remained accurate. This report does not describe in detail areas where practice continues to meet a good standard. Instead, it focuses on areas where improvements are needed and highlights any examples of outstanding practice identified during the assessment.

People received care and support that met their assessed needs and reflected their preferences. Staff understood people's needs and any risks to their safety. They provided care in a way that helped people remain well and achieve what was important to them. People's care records were reviewed regularly to help ensure they received the right support as their needs changed.

The service worked in line with the Mental Capacity Act 2005. People were supported to make their own decisions about their care wherever possible and to remain in control of their daily lives. Where people required support with decision-making, this was provided in line with legal requirements and best practice. There was no evidence of unnecessary restrictions being placed on people.

Staff treated people with dignity and respect and promoted their privacy and independence. Staff supported people to remain as independent as possible while managing risks appropriately. People and those important to them were able to share feedback, raise concerns or make complaints, and there were systems in place to respond appropriately.

Arrangements were in place to help keep people safe from harm and to support the safe management of medicines. Risks to people's health and wellbeing were identified and managed appropriately. There were enough staff to meet people's needs, and staff received training, supervision and support to carry out their roles effectively.

Leaders and staff promoted a culture of learning and improvement. Incidents and concerns were reviewed to identify opportunities to improve the quality and safety of care. Systems were in place to monitor the quality and safety of the service. Regular checks and audits helped leaders identify issues, address risks and make improvements where needed.
