Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 5 to 11 December 2025

David House is a care home providing personal care to up to 8 people, who require support with their mental health. Some of whom have a learning disability and/or are autistic. At the time of our assessment there were 6 people using the service.

We undertook this assessment to follow up on a breach of regulation identified at our previous assessment. This assessment included all quality statements within the Well-led key question. At this assessment we found the provider continued to be in breach of the legal regulation relating to good governance.

Robust governance systems continued to not be in place to review the quality and safety of care delivery. There was not a regular programme of audit to review key areas of service delivery to ensure these were delivered in line with the provider’s policies and procedures. Where checklists were being used to review areas of service delivery, we saw when improvements were identified as being required, these were not always actioned in a timely manner.

There continued to not be a registered manager in post which impacted on the oversight and leadership of the service. However, staff and people reported feeling well supported by the interim home manager. They felt able to speak openly with them and felt their views and opinions would be listened to. The provider was in the process of recruiting a registered manager.

We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.

People's experience of this service

People were aware of who the interim home manager was. They felt able to speak openly with them and felt any suggestions they made, verbally or via the suggestion box, would be listened to and actioned. The interim home manager held regular meetings with people using the service to gather their views and involve them in service delivery and development. People appeared comfortable around care staff and told us staff looked after them well.
