All Inspections

During a routine inspection

People had detailed care plans relating to all aspects of their care needs. They contained a good level of information setting out exactly how each person should be supported to ensure their needs were met. We spoke with four people who used the service who told us they were happy with the care and treatment they received. Some comments made were: "It's lovely here and I am well looked after.", "Staff here are lovely and do a great job."

People who used the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.

We found that the service operated an effective recruitment and selection process. We also found that records relating to the care, staffing and the management of the service were accurate and fit for purpose.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with a range of people about the service. We did this to gain a balanced overview of what people experienced. The people we spoke to included, the service manager, staff members, people who used the service, family members of people living at the service and visiting health professionals.

This service provided care for people with a range of needs, including those with dementia. Communication with some of the people who used the service was limited due to their diagnosis of dementia. We therefore spent some of the time in the communal areas making observations of how people were being cared for.

We observed staff assisting people who required care and support with personal care. Staff treated people with respect and ensured their privacy when supporting them. They provided support or attention as people requested it. We spoke with one person who used the service about the care and support they received. They said they were happy living at the service and told us that staff were polite and kind.
