All Inspections

16 October 2013

During a routine inspection

During our inspection we spoke with six people who used the service and looked at four people's records. We spoke with a number of staff including a substance misuse worker, recovery worker, senior practitioner, operations managers and the registered manager.

People we spoke with were satisfied with the treatment and support they had received from the service and were positive about the organisations purpose. People told us they had been supported to make their own decisions about their recovery and that workers were knowledgeable, friendly and supportive.

Records showed that people's needs had been assessed and support and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that ensured their safety and welfare. We found that the service had been effective in helping people achieve their outcomes and aid their recovery.

Staff had received appropriate professional development and had been supported to provide care and treatment in a way that promoted people's health and welfare. We found staff were well-informed about the issues surrounding substance misuse. Staff we spoke with were enthusiastic and positive about their roles and the service being delivered.

There was an effective complaints system available and comments and complaints people made were responded to appropriately.

Records were accurate, fit for purpose and well maintained.

14 November 2012

During a routine inspection

We attempted to carry out an unannounced inspection on 13 November 2012. However, staff were not available to assist us with the inspection as they were at a management event on this day. Therefore the provider had a short amount of notice that we would carry out the inspection the following day.

We did not get the opportunity to speak with people using the service during our visit. However, we observed a consultation between a person who used the service and a substance misuse worker. We found that the worker treated the person with dignity and respect and we observed a good rapport between them.

We spoke with staff and found they were aware of how to safeguard people and how to recognise different forms of abuse. We found the service was carrying out appropriate checks before staff began work.

People who used the service were asked for their views and they were acted on. The provider had undertaken a survey with people who used the service. We looked at the results of this and saw that overall results were positive. The service had carried out a number of audits to ensure that risks to people were being managed. We saw that learning from the outcome of these audits took place and appropriate changes were made.

We found that the service was compliant with the essential standards of quality and safety that we inspected.
