Kindness, compassion and dignity
Staff treated patients with kindness, respect and compassion. We observed positive interactions between staff and patients both in person and on the telephone. Staff displayed an understanding of patients’ needs and showed warmth and compassion to patients.
Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice.
Patient comments included that staff were welcoming and attentive, acted with integrity, and showed compassion. One patient told us, “I have had several visits to this dental practice, and each one has been a very positive experience. The team have consistently demonstrated compassion, patience and professionalism, taking care to make both me and my daughter feel comfortable throughout our visits.”
Patients said staff were professional, courteous, and considerate. “The team are highly professional and clearly knowledgeable, which inspires confidence. Communication has been clear and calm at all times, and we never felt rushed.”
Patients felt they were treated as individuals, and their personal and cultural needs were respected. One patient told us, “I have always received care of the highest professional standard at this practice. I am fully involved in decisions about my oral health and they respect my need for adequate sedation.”
People received care from staff who were aware of their responsibility to respect people’s diversity and human rights, and of the importance of privacy and confidentiality.
Staff felt respected, valued and supported in their roles, and their wellbeing was supported. One staff member told us, “I have worked at the practice for 15 years and I thoroughly enjoy being a part of the team. We are well supported and valued. We also have a lovely social calendar which is good for morale.” Another staff member told us, “It is a friendly, safe, secure, fun and interesting place to work. It makes you want to do your best because everyone is so so professional.” The practice provided lunches for all staff each day and treated staff members to gifts on special occasions, which staff told us made them feel appreciated.
