Our view of the service
Branksome Heights is a care home. It provides care and support to older people, including people living with dementia. People in care homes receive accommodation and nursing or personal care as single package under one contractual agreement.
The service accommodates up to 47 people in a purpose-designed building. On the first day of our visit, there were 46 people living or staying there.
We carried out our on-site assessment on 4 and 13 September 2024 and 23 May 2025. Off site assessment activity started on 2 September 2024 and ended on 29 May 2025. We initially looked at 9 quality statements: safeguarding; involving people to manage risks; safe and effective staffing; consent to care and treatment; independence, choice and control; responding to people's immediate needs, providing information; equity in experiences and outcomes; and governance, management and sustainability. We expanded this during the inspection to a total of 21 quality statements so we could rate the safe, caring and well-led key questions, in view of the positive evidence gathered.
