Safe environments

Score: 1

Fire doors were now being held open safely by fitted door guards. This meant in the event of a fire, doors would automatically close which helped to keep people safe. Staff told us they carried out regular checks of the doors to make sure they were not being propped open unsafely. We found all windows checked were now attached to their window restrictor safely. The home manager told us out of hours checks were being completed to monitor the environment and make sure staff were following safe ways of working.

Whilst the provider has taken the immediate action necessary to keep people safe, further action is needed to ensure these improvements are sustained and embedded.
