How this check was done

Our judgement

The provider was meeting this standard. People experienced care, treatment and support that met their needs and protected their rights.

User experience

People’s dental care needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual dental plan.

We spoke with one person who used the service who told us they were satisfied with the service provided and confirmed that they were aware of their treatment options. We looked at four dental records that contained a dental plan which was signed by people receiving treatment. This meant that people were aware of their course of treatment and the cost on completion.

We heard the receptionist asking people to complete a medical history form. The dental records we looked at contained a medical history form. This information should enable the dentist, to establish any health conditions or prescribed medicines that could have an impact on the person’s planned dental treatment.

We heard the receptionist asking people to sign a consent form for treatment. One person who accessed the service said that they were asked to sign a consent form and we saw evidence of this in people’s dental records. This meant that consent was obtained from people before they received treatment.

Other evidence

We did not have any other evidence.
