All Inspections

29 January 2014

During a routine inspection

People who used the service were given sufficient information to enable them to make informed decisions about their care and were involved and consulted with.

We spoke to four people who received care from the service and found people spoken with were happy with the care and support they received and did not have any negative comments.

Care assessments and care support plans were in place and these were followed in practice. We found people usually had the same team of carers and people experienced safe and appropriate care.

We found safe and effective recruitment processes were in place and the service had a staff team that was appropriately qualified and experienced to provide safe and effective service.

People who used the service were able to give their views about the service and people told us they would contact the carers or office staff if they had any concerns or if changes were needed to their care package provided.

People told us they felt safe with the service they received and had no concerns about the staff team. We found appropriate arrangements were in place to safeguard people that used the service.

2 October 2012

During a routine inspection

We visited people in their own homes and spoke to two people who received care from the service as well as speaking to a family carer. People we visited told us they were 'very satisfied with the care they received', and two people told us they sometimes found it difficult when new carers came to see them because they were not familiar with their care needs.

People we spoke with told us the staff who visited them in their homes mostly knew what care they were receiving. We saw care plans were accessible to staff in peoples homes. This meant that staff who where not always familiar with the care needs of individuals were able to access detailed care plans informing them of the care the individual needed.

We looked at records that showed Hazelwood Homecare had consulted with people who used the service and had documented that people had consented to their care being provided.

We looked at a report completed in May 2012 that told us that Hazelwood Homecare had consulted with people that use their service. One comment was, 'All staff are approachable, and carers are friendly, chat and listen'. Another comment stated 'Couldn't wish for better'.

Two people who used the service told us, "I am very happy with the service'.

We found that policies and procedures and effective systems were in place to support individuals who had any complaints about the service.
