Our view of the service
Amberwood Lodge is a care home providing personal care for up to 9 people with a learning disability and/or autistic people. There were 9 people living at the service during this assessment. The inspection was carried out between 29 August and 5 September 2025. This inspection was prompted by concerns we received about the safety of care provision. However, we found this service to be safe and well-led.
We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.
People’s rights were fully respected, and consent was sought as required.Staff supported people to have maximum choice and control of their lives.Safeguarding procedures were in place to help protect people from abuse.Staff training was in place to provide staff with the necessary skills required to undertake their roles. People’s views and preferences were communicated and acted upon. Staff assessed people’s needs and preferences. Family members were involved in developing and reviewing care plans.
People's experience of this service
Where people were unable to communicate verbally, we observed interactions between them, their peers and staff. We observed staff had friendly and positive relationships with people.People’s unique communication needs were met, for example through pictures, objects and their body language. People communicated they felt safe at the service. A relative told us, “My loved one is happy at the service.”
