During a routine inspection

We spoke with five people who used the service. They were all satisfied with the service they received. One said it was 'very good', another that it was 'excellent'. They were equally happy with their assigned personal support workers, describing them as 'very understanding and helpful'. They told us that care and support were provided with their consent and according to agreed plans and assessments. They said that they had had no serious problems, but were confident that complaints would be handled properly if they had to raise them.

We found that people's care and support were delivered according to thorough and individualised assessments and plans, and that staff ensured that people consented before support was provided. Staff handled medicines appropriately and stored them securely where people were living in shared accommodation. The provider made the necessary checks before employing staff and had effective recruitment and induction processes. There was a complaints process which people were aware of, but it had not been used recently.

During a routine inspection

We spoke to some people as part of this visit. People said that the agency had carried out an assessment of their needs before a service was provided. The agency had involved the individuals or their relatives in the process. Some people said that they had been given a copy of their care plan.

People told us that care was delivered as planned and the service they received met their expectations. People described the staff as courteous, helpful and understanding.

They said that the staff sometimes supported them to attend appointments.

One person said 'you can have a laugh and a joke.' They said that they felt that their dignity and privacy was respected.
