Our view of the service

Dates of assessment were from 7 April 2026 to 1 May 2026, and we visited the service on 7 and 9 April 2026. Grange Court Care Home is a 30 bedded residential care home supporting older people, some of whom may be living with dementia. At the time of the assessment there were 26 people living in the service. We carried out this assessment because of the length of time since we last assessed the service.
People received safe, effective, compassionate and high-quality care from a service where staff knew them well and treated them with dignity, kindness and respect. People were supported to have choice and control over their daily lives, to maintain relationships and continue accessing meaningful activities both within the home and in the community. Staff consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of people as individuals and went beyond their expected roles to provide highly personalised, responsive care that promoted people’s wellbeing, emotional comfort and sense of belonging.
Staff worked effectively with a wide range of health and social care professionals to ensure care was coordinated and responsive to people’s changing needs. This included strong clinical oversight, use of evidence-based tools and a proactive approach to improving outcomes, such as supporting people’s nutrition and reducing avoidable health risks.
Care was highly personalised, with people and their relatives involved in decisions about care, treatment and future planning. The service supported people to live fulfilling lives and maintain independence, including participation in community events and activities important to them.
Leadership within the service was visible and supportive, with systems in place to monitor quality and drive improvement. Strong partnership working and a commitment to learning supported continued development of the service.
However, some areas for improvement were identified, including ensuring staff consistently experienced equality and support, and strengthening oversight in some aspects of governance. Despite this, the service maintained a clear focus on delivering safe, person-centred care and improving the experience and outcomes for people.
