Our view of the service
We carried out a planned assessment of Autumn house residential home between 2 September and 22 October 2025. This included 3 site visits; 3 inspectors and a medicines inspector involved in 1 or more of the assessment site visits completed. We completed this assessment to establish if improvements had been made following the previous assessment.
The provider and the management team had changed since the previous assessment; the legal entity remained the same. The provider failed to address 4 of the breaches to legal regulations we identified at the previous assessment in relation to consent, safe care and treatment, the safety of the environment and the governance of the service. However improvements had been made, and the provider was no longer in breach of 9 legal regulations. In relation to safeguarding, staffing, fit and proper people employed, treating people with dignity and respect, meeting people’s nutrition and hydrational needs, providing person centred care, duty of candour, failing to report incidents and displaying rating certificates. The improvements found needed to be fully embedded into the service and then sustained.
In instances where CQC have decided to take civil or criminal enforcement action against a provider, we will publish this on our website after any representations and / or appeals have been concluded.
People's experience of this service
People and relatives, we spoke with expressed they were happy with the care and described staff as kind and caring. During our assessment we found people’s care and experiences had improved, for example staff had time to interact with people and engage in meaningful discussions., However further work was needed to ensure people had the opportunities to participate in their hobbies and purposeful activities. Where people at the service had dementia, we observed improvements were being made to reflect best practice to support people with their orientation around the home.
