Our view of the service

Date of assessment 8t September to 26 September 2025. Royal Court is a care home supporting older people, some of whom live with dementia. The service is registered with the Care Quality Commission to provide accommodation for people who require nursing or personal care. At the time of the assessment there were 35 people living at the service. We assessed all 5 Key Questions of Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well led. Staff treated people with dignity and respect. People and their relatives knew how to give feedback and were confident the home took it seriously and acted on it. Leaders were visibleand supportive. Staff were proud to work at Royal Court. Some of the systems in place to monitor the service did not always identify where improvements were needed, meaning some information about people’s needs was missing and not up to date. However, manager’s and staff knew people well, this helped to mitigate any risks to people. The provider was open to our feedback and acted quickly to address any issues we raised.

People's experience of this service

People told us they liked living at Royal Court, people said they enjoyed the activities and the chance to go out when they could. We observed staff supporting people living with dementia in a way that acknowledged their reality and helped them to manage confusion and distress. People and their relatives told us they felt safe, liked their rooms, the space at the home, activities and food.One person told us, “I am feeling safe here. The carers are very careful to make sure I am alright” and another person told us, “Staff know me very well, no doubt about that.”
