The service should have quality checking systems to manage risks and assure the health, welfare and safety of people who receive care (outcome 16)

Meeting this standard

We checked that people who use this service

  • Benefit from safe quality care, treatment and support, due to effective decision making and the management of risks to their health, welfare and safety.

How this check was done

Our judgement

The provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people receive.

User experience

We were not able to speak to people using the service because of their individual conditions. We gathered evidence of people’s experiences of the service by reviewing comment cards and the complaints log. We found that comments were positive about the care their relatives had received.

Other evidence

We found that there were various monitoring and auditing tools available in the service. Personnel records were audited to ensure quality and content. People using the service and/or their relatives were surveyed approximately every 4 months to establish their views and how the service was impacting on their lives. The service had a complaints procedure available and a survey "Are we getting it right" which gave service users the opportunity to comment how the service was run.

Care UK Wirral has also achieved Investors in People silver award. Investors in people refers to a business improvement tool that is designed to help businesses recognise the importance of staff performance. It offers a framework for staff development.
